Yoga Therapy is the adaptation of yoga practices for people with health challenges. Yoga Therapists prescribe specific regimens of postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques to suit individual needs. Medical research shows that Yoga Therapy is among the most effective complementary therapies for several common ailments. The challenges may be an illness, a temporary condition like pregnancy of childbirth or a chronic condition associated will old age or infirmity.

Yoga not only helps improve your body, but also helps with mindfulness and meditation. It is important to take a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity. Focusing on your breath during practice is key to staying in tune with your mind and body.
Shahla Khan is a RYT 200 Yoga Alliance teacher. She is certified in Integrative Yoga therapy and received her certification through Radiant Wellness Integrative Yoga Therapy. She is also a CPF Yoga for Cancer certified instructor. She has also completed her certification in Accessible Yoga. The Accessible Yoga Training focuses on how to make yoga available to everyone, regardless of their level of physical ability. She is a certified Sports Nutrition Consultant through the American Fitness Professional Associates (AFPA). She recently completed her certification in Primary Myofascial Release using the foam roller.
Shahla received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from London University and her Masters degree in Environmental Psychology from Surrey University in the U.K. Shahla holds a Ph.D. in Sports Science with a major in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Sports Nutrition from Georgia State University, Atlanta.
She held academic positions at both Georgia State University and Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, before moving to Jacksonville, Florida, where she began teaching at the University of North Florida, in the College of Health, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
She held a faculty position at Jacksonville University in the Department of Kinesiology.
Shahla is also the Active Older Adult Wellness Program Coordinator at Sawgrass Country Club Fitness Center in Ponte Vedra Beach, where she teaches classes in Yoga Therapy and Gentle Therapeutic Yoga to Sawgrass Country Club Fitness Center members.
Shahla also teaches relaxation yoga Mission House which provides activities free of charge to the homeless in the community.
The yoga therapy components of my instruction are based on my certification in Integrative Yoga Therapy not derived from my status as an RYT ®with Yoga Alliance Registry.
Individual one hour sessions $70
Package of 4 one hour individual sessions $260 ($270 if I come to your home)
Additional $5 per session if I come to your home.
